College Student Aerobic and Muscle-Strengthening Activity: The Intersection of Gender and Sexual Orientation Among United States Students

The purpose of the study was to examine differences in aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity participation based on intersection gender sexual orientation among cisgender college students. Data from American College Health Association National Assessment collected between Fall 2015 2018 were analyzed. Differences population average for meeting (separately) recommendations computed each intersection. likelihood calculated using a series logistic regression analyses determine odds ratios controlling age, year enrollment, race/ethnicity, health status. Overall, more men those identifying as straight met (aerobic muscle-strengthening) recommendations. Asexual women less likely meet compared men, bisexual questioning men. Bisexual, pansexual, individuals both genders, queer gay who identified pansexual or another identity. Men identity, well lesbian individuals. In summary, findings demonstrate that disparities are evident orientation. socio-demographic characteristics should be considered by researchers physical promoters order better understand address disparities.
